Week 6

As of now we have windows and a laundry door frame- the front door is there but hasn't been installed yet.

We were told by our building coordinator that the things will starting moving again the week of the 3rd Jan- cant wait to see the bricks!

Week 5

As of yesterday 20th December 2011 we are still waiting on the window frames to be completed and our windows to be installed.  According to our stand-in SS the windows should be installed before Christmas break.

Funny thing....We were across the street taking a front on picture (4th picture below)  noticed a window laying on the grass.  After looking at the lable we noticed it was our ensuite window!!!  We carried it back to our garage and noticed where it was missing from.  I left a message for our stand-in SS today advising him, so it will be interesting if he does something.   Hmmmmm makes you wonder how it got there!

In addition, our home finally has a hat!  That's right we have a roof! 

Our stand-in SS said the bricks should be delivered on 3rd January 2012 and brickies (Aussie term for brick layer) will start in early January.

Our Slab and Frame - weeks 3 &4

A lot has change since I last blogged..... we now have a slab and framing!  I can't believe how much has changed in just over 3 weeks. 

We meet our SS on Monday, so hopefully we can build a good relationship with him.

Things are finally happening!

Since I last updated the blog the site has been scrapped and we now have pipes. 

We spoke to our Site Supervisor today and he said our slab is scheduled Tuesday 29th November as a storm in coming in on Friday and Saturday and hope to start the framework on Friday 2nd December.

I will update next week when we know something more.

Site Start Date

We have been told that dependent on weather the site scrap will be on Wednesday 16th November and the slab will be done on Friday 25th November.

So fingers crossed we have some good weather!

Building Permit

We received the building permit in today's mail, dated 4th November 2011!  What is amazing its the same day our land settled!  Looks like our Building Coordinator was working fast to get this moving.

Now we have to wait for our file to go to Constuction department to schedule a site start date.  From what we have read and seen it takes 1 to 2 weeks to schedule- fingers crossed it does.

Settlement

What a relief our land finally settled on 4th November!

Port Davis is already working on obtaining our building permit which according to their website has been received!

We went by our lot yesterday not thinking anything will have changed, to find trees on our nature strip and the land sales office is now there

We are looking forward to a site start date being scheduled.  We are hoping because the housing industry has slowed down and that PD will want some money before Christmas shut down that they will complete the slab and framing before the break.

But we will see!

Settlement Date has been set

Finally the day has come and the land is going to settle tomorrow - 4th November 2011 at 2pm. 

We should get a building permit Monday or Tuesday and hopefully a site start date 1 to 2 weeks later.  If all goes well we should have a slab and possibly a frame before Christmas shut down.

Our block has finally Titled

On 13th October our land titled and is scheduled to settle on 4th November!  We are very excited and can't wait to finally call something ours.

At this rate we will most likely have a slab and maybe a frame to look at by Christmas when the building industry closes for a month.

The first photo is our bathroom floor/shower tiles with the accent tiles on top.  The dark accent tiles will be used in the Master Ensuite in the shower and behind the sinks and the lighter colour will be in the Main Bathroom behind the sink - both bathrooms will only have a row of 2 as the accent.

The second photo is our floor tile throughout our living area and the cream coloured tile is our splash back in the Laundry room.

Hurry up titles office!

So orginally we were advised that our land would title in June -  what a joke.  We were then advised MID September.  As of today this has not happened yet so we are waiting for the titles office to do there thing! Once our land has titled our conveyancer then applies for settlement which needs council approval.  In the meantime, we have to finalise our land layout and floor plan with PD.

This is Sammy, Rod and Savannah here and this is a record for our friends and family of our experience building a new home - from the ground up. We are building the Porter Davis Forestdale 27 in Cranbourne West on the corner of Hall Road and Western Port Hwy.
